Read about Hunter's Trip to Afghanistan Hunter wrote of her experiences while in Kabul, and has posted them to the Natural Capitalism Solutions' web site. . . .Yesterday [election day] passed without the warned of event that would "get the attention of the world." We are amused by articles that just appeared in a Japanese Newspaper saying: "Afghanistan: It is not a suitable destination for a summer vacation." In fairness, a couple of Japanese teachers were found murdered in the South. Tho it is likely that they were actually killed in Pakistan and their bodies dumped over the border. When people ask me about this, I remind them that the last time I returned from Afghanistan to Washington D.C., the headlines were about how someone was grabbing cab drivers, hauling them out of their taxis and killing them. One can get dead anywhere. . . . [Click Here] to read Hunter's web log (blog). Hunter on Turkomen Horse Orphanage in KabulTreasure America Takes Videos to D.C. Treasure America Project Director, Andrew Smith, and Fundraising Coordinator, Emily Leary, attended the "Arctic Refuge Action Day" on Sept. 20 in Washington, D.C. The team dropped off the Treasure America short documentary movie with ~40 reps/senators and their energy/environment staff to educate key decision makers about the economic argument for reduced oil dependence and the preservation of the Refuge. The team even sat with some of these energy staff to watch the video and discuss the long-term benefits of a sustainable energy policy. The film is now available via the Treasure America website. If anyone in the Nat Cap community is interested in showing/distributing this movie for educational purposes please [email us]. The film was completed this month by the Treasure America Project Film Team Karl Swingle and Ciaran Flannery.
